Meeting Minutes

Sacramento Valley Intergroup of Overeaters Anonymous

Location: Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 9001 La Riviera Drive, Sacramento. Conducting: Mariel D.  Intergroup Chair. Minutes: Lori P., Intergroup Secretary.  27 in attendance.

We started at 7:00 PM. The meeting opened with the Serenity Prayer; Nicole read the Twelve Steps; Introductions were made; the minutes of last meeting were read and approved.

Board Reports

Chair:  Mariel D. 

·         Agenda – New business items:  Standardized announcement folder

·         Status of Lawsuit:  Change of attorney went through; necessary paperwork has been filed.

·         Announcements – Bay Area group looking for Sacramento speaker for Christmas Day in Berkeley; anyone interested please see Mariel for contact info.  November 18th is IDEA Day (International Day of Experiencing Abstinence).     

Vice Chair: Carmen A.

·         Mailings went out. If anyone knows of individuals or groups that would like mailings, let Carmen know.

Secretary:  Lori P.

·         Minutes from last meeting submitted.

Treasurer: Ian D.

·         Ian gave financial report for October 2006.  Highlights are as follows:

Ø       Started insurance payments for next year;

Ø       7th Tradition donations are down, but overall doing O.K.;

Ø       Ian will follow up with Tracie about invoice for theatre ad

Ø       Ian will provide insurance info to Judy L. to bring to R2 meetings.

Region 2:  Pilar P. & Judy L.

·         Pilar gave report on R2 Assembly.  Written report submitted to Intergroup Secretary; copies were distributed for Intergroup reps to take back to their groups.   

World Service:  Rosalie

·         No report.   

Webmaster: Katy H.

·         Cannot get on-line speaker form working; requested that it be deferred until new webmaster takes over in January 2007.     

New Business

·         Melissa made a motion to develop a standardized announcement folder for all meetings; motion was seconded; discussions followed.  Vote:  Yes=3; No=16; Abstention=3.  Motion failed.

Committee Reports

v      Answer Phone Service:  Janet still working on getting old phone number removed. 

v      Bylaws Committee:  no report.

v      Designated Downloader:  Michael – absent, no report.

v      Events: Sharon E. – Next Day in OA will be held on November 18th at the Mercy Medical Plaza, Auditorium Room B.  Topic will be Abstinence through the Holidays; there will be two speakers and a skit by the Recovery Players.     

v      Group Growth:  Darlene - will update World Service meeting info.

v      Literature:  Janice did an analysis of individual shipping costs vs. having literature at Intergroup. Spoke in favor of and the importance of having literature available at the Intergroup meetings and other events.

v      Newsletter:  Ian – circulating list to make changes to meetings and/or contacts. 

v      OA HOW:  Weedie – working with HOW groups to get uniformity at meetings. 

v      Public Information:  Tracie H. – absent. 

v      Retreat:  Judy H. – absent, no report. 

v      Speaker List:  Harry – working on list; will have updated and available for next meeting.

v      12th Step Within: Mike Z. – no report.   

v      Young People:  Jennene – absent, no report. 

v      Media Coordinator:  Sylvia – absent, sent report that she would be at Day in OA to tape speakers; Susan H. stated that she had tapes available for Sylvia to download; Janice will be selling speaker tapes at the Day in OA for $1 each.
