Meeting Minutes

Sacramento Valley Intergroup of Overeaters Anonymous

 

Location: Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 9001 La Riviera Drive, Sacramento. Conducting: Mariel D, Intergroup Chair. Minutes: Lori P., Intergroup Secretary.  23 in attendance.

We started at 7:00 PM. The meeting opened with the Serenity Prayer; Dorothy read the Twelve Traditions; Introductions were made; the minutes of last meeting were read and approved.


Board Reports

Chair:  Mariel D.

·         Agenda – Additional new business items:  Elk Grove Unified School District Health Fairnone

·         Status of Lawsuit:  Mariel gave an update on the lawsuit.  Please continue special collections to cover attorney fees.   

Vice Chair: Carmen A.

·         Mailings are done.  Flyers for April “Day in OA” will go out in early March.

Secretary:  Lori P.

·         Minutes from last meeting submitted.   

Treasurer: Ian D.

·         Ian was out of town, but submitted financial reports for period ending 01.31.06.

Region 2:  Pilar P. & Judy L.

·         Judy L. is registered for the March 25th Assembly in San Francisco.  SVIOA is entitled to have six representatives at the Assembly.  Opportunity offered first to board members and committee members, and then requested volunteers – no responses. Mariel indicated that Julie, who went to last assembly, may be interested in attending.

World Service: Vacant

·         Since there are no elected WSO representatives, we can appoint people to attend WSBC in May.  Please announce need for delegates to attend.  If anyone is interested, see Rosalie.

Webmaster: Katy H.

·         Board and Committee e-mail addresses need to be updated.   

Continuing Business

·         Policy and Procedure Manuals: Mariel still accepting marked-up copies - please get them to her if you have any changes. 

·         Bylaws:  Bylaws have been converted to World Service format; changes accepted; Mariel distributed copies to bring to groups; Motion made and seconded to approve updated Bylaws; Vote: Yes-17. No-0, Abstenstions-2; Motion passed.

·         Intergroup Financial Audit Status – Sharon E. conducted audit of financial books for 2005; submitted written report to Chair and gave verbal report that the books presented to her passed standard accounting practices.

·         Winter Retreat Status – E-mail report from Tom.  Circulated committee flyers–one person showed interest.  If no one else volunteers, we will not plan.  If interested contact Tom.  Make announcements at meetings – more volunteers needed.  Retreat would be held at a hotel in Sacramento in conjunction with January birthday party. 

New Business

·         Carmen is having a Health Fair at her place of employment (Elk Grove Unified School District); inviting OA to participate; she talked to Tracie.  Health Fair will be held on May 4th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. No liability insurance needed.

Committee Reports

o        Answer Phone Service:  Janet – no report.

o        Bylaws Committee:  Mariel, Carmen (Sharon & Rosalie assisting) – See notes under “Continuing Business”.

o        Designated Downloader:  Michael - brought copies of downloads from WSO website.

o        Events:  Sharon E. - April 22nd Day in OA from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Green Room at Mercy Hospital.  Topic will be Steps 3 & 11.  Sponsoring group will be the Friday Night Meditation Group.  Also, Unity Day will be held on February 25th; Judy L. distributed copies of press release; there will be three speakers; literature will be there.

o        Group Growth:  Darlene – no report.

o        Literature:  Janice and Margaret – Literature is here and we’re selling it! 

o        Newsletter:  Jodi – needs people to write articles; will update Board/Committee names and e-mail addresses; Judy L. will submit article about Unity Day.

o        OA How:  Dorothy – no report.

o        Public Information:  Tracie H. – Has first official P.I. committee with 5 members!  They are working on the following:

a)       Collecting old Life Lines for H&I; you can bring them to Intergroup and Tracie will pick them up there.  Stickers will also be provided at Intergroup for direct contributions to H&I.

b)       One committee member is working on a piece for NPR (National Public Radio).

c)       One committee member is working on getting more publicity through the Internet.

o        Retreat:  Susan H. – absent.  Judy B. sent e-mail indicating that 20 rooms have been reserved.

o        Speaker List:  Steve – absent, no report.

o        12th Step Within: Mike Z. – absent, no report.

o        Young People:  Jenene – absent, no report.
